Every hotel, store and tour operator in jaisalmer can and
will blithely stage a
camel safari,
which is a must-do natural action while in the Thar Desert. We explored a bit
online and finally figured that we’d like to go on a longer safari than just a
one-hour sunset ride on sandy dunes, the second being biggest amongst visitors,
who are short on time or wary of long, jolting rides. At the other extremum,
adventurous travelers go on multi-day trips, crossing from one desert town to
the other on camel-back.

The longer
camel safaris,
such as ours, commonly admit stops at villages along the way to give visitors a
glance of life in the Thar Desert. This is particularly absorbing for foreign
visitors who get the chance to move with villagers directly, enter their homes
and see their life up-close. Madhu and I are not really unaware of what life is
like for a
distinctive Indian villager, so after stopping at one village and looking
around a bit, we asked Kaluram to hop the other village stops and breach only
for repasts or rest. The village kids who adopted us across were super-cute and
one little girl even spoke good Hindi. It was sad to see them implore for money
from us, although.
Bikaner is a
desert city in Rajasthan. It is known for the magnificient
palaces and the beutiful temples. The city also houses camel explore and education
farm which is one of its kind. The camel safari is best-loved among the
tourists to visit this desert city. The safari begins from Bikaner and passes
through many beautiful spots in Naukh, Kansar, Baru, Chayan, Sataya and Tadana.
From Tadana it moves to Mohangarh which is a small town having sandstone
fortress. From here safari moves to Dungri and then returns to Jaisalmer. Their
is also other route for the camel safari from Bikaner. It starts from Bikaner
and moving to villages of Charkhada, Teliyan Ki Dhani, Kanasar, Baru Bhala,
Telansar, Chaku and Bharaiya it goes to Jambo in Jodhpur district. From there
it turns to west and then motion to Jaisalmer.
